Casualties for March 1917
The month began with the battalion out of the line at Beugin, and training for the upcoming Arras offensive. They moved to Maroeuil on 10th March before relieving the 6th Gordon Highlanders in the line on 17th. They in turn were relieved by the 7th Gordon Highlanders on 25th March, returning to Maroeuil.

(The battalion had relieved the 6th Gordons on the 17th March). Today was mainly quiet. The men were employed clearing the trenches which were in a very bad condition. Four other ranks were wounded during the period by shell fire. |

The period was quiet. A good deal of improvement was made on the trenches by our men. One other rank was killed and two wounded by the accidental discharge of a rifle. |

Our artillery was very active during the period and the enemy retaliation was slight. There were no outstanding incidents. Two other ranks were wounded. |

The day was quiet. Our artillery and trench mortars were very active. There was little retaliation from the enemy. One other rank was wounded. |

Today "C" Coy relieved "D" Coy in the right half of the sub sector. "D" Coy moved in support at Roclincourt. The relief was carried out without incident. One other rank was killed during the period. [Shows on casualty list as 22nd March] |

Today the battalion was relieved by the 1/7th Gordon Highlanders. The relief was concluded without incident and the battalion moved back into huts and billets at Maroeuil. |
31 March MAROEUIL |
"A", "B", "C" and "D" Coys supplied parties for work in the line. Parades were held under Company and specialist arrangements. During the afternoon the eneny shelled Maroeuil. Two other ranks were wounded. [Only one is shown on the casualty list for this day.] |
