   13 May 1916 2561 Pte Burnett, Charles Killed in action Buchan Observer 30/5/1916 - New Leeds - Killed in action, a nephew of Mr Kinghorn. He enlisted in the Gordons in November 1914 having left farm service at Wellington, Peterhead. He was one of a working party in the front line and was hit in the head by 2 bullets from a machine gun and was killed instantaneously. He was in his 25th year.
