Post Cards

The following selection of Post Cards comes from a collection of approximately 50 First World War era cards belonging to my late great-aunt, Mrs Ruth McKenzie (nee Baird) of Peterhead.

At the outbreak of the War, Ruth was a sixteen year old schoolgirl.  She left the Peterhead Academy in 1914 and over the next few years obtained work as a bookkeeper at various hotels throughout Scotland.  She had a wide collection of friends, relatives and acquaintances with whom she exchanged letters and postcards.

In 1919 she married former Gordon Highlander, Fred McKenzie, whose photograph appears on the home page of this site.

Below is a small sample from this collection, now in the possession of Ruth's great niece Mrs Rita Weir of Peterhead.
