This French Silk card was sent to Ruth from her cousin, George. It is the only card that gives a service number and unit. However no such number appears to exist for a member of the Gordon Highlanders. There was a George Baird from Peterhead who was a cousin of Ruth's and was in the Gordons - originally in the 5th Battalion. His numbers were 2741 and later 240761. That George Baird died of wounds at 26th General Hospital at Etaples in May 1918.
